Aircraft Market
Now you have the cash, but before you start flying, you need a plane.
You can either purchase a pre-owned or simply system generated aircraft through the used market, or a brand new aircraft. Keep in mind, if the aircraft is not in production today, it will not be available to buy new (by exception during testing phases of OpenSky).
When purchasing a new aircraft, you can opt to have it delivered to any ICAO, for a price. This equates to about $250 per nm from the manufacturer ICAO.
Used aircraft are sold in place, buyer is responsible for pickup.
Note: While renting will be a feature of OpenSky, it is not yet implemented! Stay tuned.
Don't see the aircraft you want? OpenSky uses a method of importing aircraft that requires the plane to be imported using in sim detection. This means that the staff would need to own every plane to import it. We rely on the userbase to help us with this! Aircraft moderation explains how this is achieved.
