FAQ

Q: What simulators are supported?

A: Currently we support Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and X-Plane 11/12. If you use X-Plane, head over to X-Plane Support for more information.

Q: Do you support Virtual Airlines?

A: We plan to. At this stage of development (November 2023), we are focused on the core functions of the software with plans for much more! But, we need community input on these future roadmap milestones we have in store so engage with us in our discord!

Q: The aircraft I want to fly isn't listed, what do I do?

A: Head over to Aircraft Moderation!

Q: Is warping or time compression supported?

A: Yes! But your plane will be grounded based on the calculated flight time reduction based on that action. Be prepared for your plane to be on the ground until the timer is up!

Q: My Agent said warp was used, or my plane is stuck in warp. Why?

A: This is most likely the case if you skipped any portion of fuel or payload loading. This time skipped will be added on to the end of your flight, and result in the plane being grounded until that warp is complete. Example: 11 minutes were remaining for loading, and you clicked skip. You will have an 11 minute warp tacked on to the end of your flight.

Q: I've landed at an airport without fuel, what will happen?

A: OpenSky is not in the business of shutting down our base from flying. We have instituted a way to call a fuel truck to your location, but there will be a premium charge on that fuel delivery. It would be beneficial to plan ahead!

Note: We use in sim data to populate our database, and sometimes the sim is wrong! If you find an airport without fuel, and it should have fuel please ping us in discord to correct this.

Q: Why do I need a Bing Maps key?

A: We are open source and free to play, which means the resources we already expend need to go towards supporting the operational needs of the platform. Commercial use of an API would cost this platform money, and we want to keep it free for all!
